GENIUS! Keep these up- you’ve found the winning formula!!!!!

How did you not smile, laugh or giggle during production? That’s always what’s hard for me…

Nice. Very “real” presentation with a succinct message. Well done.

Very well done!

True to the title, true to prudent selling advice. Some things really are that simple…

Wow. Real Estate Bloggers can be quite a critical audience, which is good, because I’m looking to consider and learn. I understand both sides. Our sellers who are over forty would likely be insulted. But I will say that I respect that you’re doing something different. I think your approach would probably appeal to my intelligent 25 year old sister and her very social and artsy digital photo taking friends who are all goof ball smart a%$$ fairly recent college grads whose fingers are tragically glued to their I-phones. The thing about these girls is that they’re making lots of money and they like to spend it – on clothes & jewelry, at restaurants and bars and they’re starting to buy homes. I’m sure you’re production will evolve over time and I respect your recognition of the set that’s becoming tomorrow’s home buyers and sellers. I don’t know if these thoughts will put me in the in-crowd or the out-crowd of real estate bloggers. I’m not even on that level and we shouldn’t even care, right? Just learning as I go.
From Chicago,
Liz

PS…I’m not dissing my sister. She’s great!

12 Liz Luby December 22, 2007 at 12:24 am

One more thing…and at the risk of being annoying I’ll go ahead and say it with a wince. If you know someone who needs a good REALTOR in the Chicago area, please feel free to give me a call. I’d be happy to reciprocate. Isn’t that another reason why appealing to the REALTOR audience on your Real Estate blog is a good thing?
Happy Holidays,
Liz

Proof that one can be better than the ninety and nine.

Innovation, creativity, individuality, risk taking, non-conformity, independence, authenticity will always prevail, despite the self-proclaimed arbiters of taste.

Subterranean Homesick Blues video is much better and was done 30 years ago. Your kinda ripping off a very old concept.

That being said, the idea of adding video content to your website on a variety of topics is a good one.

The information is old. Ethical agents have been telling Sellers the Truth and pricing homes right for years.

15 Kristal Kraft December 22, 2007 at 7:51 am

There is brilliance in simplicity. Price always forces sale.

16 Daniel Rothamel December 22, 2007 at 8:54 am

@Bobbie D fan–

You are not the first person to tell me that. I am going to have to find the video. To be quite honest, I had no idea that Dylan had done something similar. No intention on ripping anything off. I’ve never been a big Dylan fan. I’m gonna have to check it out. Thanks for pointing out the reference.

“Speed kills.” is old information, too. That doesn’t make it any less relevant.

As for ethical agents, that subject is a whole different ball of wax.

At the risk of sounding condescending, I am really proud to have you on agent genius. You continue to elevate yourself and the profession. Criticism of your video should be taken in stride, and used to make better what was great. The only real negative I heard today was Dylan stood open faced to the camera, and changed the cards, you could see his face, his expression and his time with the music- a few folks seemed to miss your eyes and needed them to understand your sincerity. Just a bit of something constructive to chew on. Thinking about some of the spew from the re.net, this may have been the key element they also missed but could not articulate for whatever reason. I cannot wait to see your next video.

I think Benn’s comments on eye contact is excellent.

WHATEVER YOU DO DON’T LINK TO SWANN’S BLOG!

He used you in a classic linkbait – now all the realtors will link to his blog and that’s all he wants

Great video. If more realtors simply told the truth like this, people wouldn’t hate and distrust realtors like they do.

20 Bryan December 23, 2007 at 2:41 am

oh brother where art thou? again, your humor is funny just as the other video by Kari. To those that can’t laugh and think you are talking down to clients, perhaps they should think about how many homes are overpriced…you aren’t asking for much, just trying to raise the bar…hahaha I liked it!

21 Bob Broad December 24, 2007 at 10:00 pm

For buyers, it’s location, location, location. But for sellers, it’s price, price, price. I’m interested to know what tools you use get your pricing right. The MLS systems are pretty elementary … more art than science. We create our own data cube from which we run some statistical analysis to help supplement what we know from being in the market.

I’m in Portland, OR. … and interested in collaborating with other agents around the country on analytical tools to help our clients arrive at the best pricing decisions for them.

22 Joe Peffer December 25, 2007 at 2:07 am

wow. not sure what all the hullabaloo is about. it’s cute, on target and speaks the truth. what’s next? if love=house and house=money, then does love=money?

23 leanne December 28, 2007 at 7:41 am

Oh please! It’s YOUR video, so if you want to keep doing the cards without eye contact, keep doing it your way.

Personally, I like the odd feeling of wondering what the guy with the cards is thinking and doing, but not being able to tell …. so that’s a vote for continuing the way you are.

Practical enough. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully you'll also present some good housing solutions in black and white as that's what we need most at the moment. Thanks and good luck.

What a funny idea of a tutorial! I think I could sell my house only by making a footage like that and post it on a sale house website. I already picture the announcement that reveals the selling of the house, then another paper with its description, then the address… All of the scenes would have proper names and I would make an emphatic entrance.

What a very hilarious and creative video, Dan. If this doesn’t attract buyers, I don’t know what will!
