Fluvanna County residents are receiving their reassessments in the mail this week. I have already heard from some residents who were shocked and now concerned. I have done a little looking at some of the numbers compared to recent sales. After just a look at the most recent county sales in December, some interesting trends are emerging. More on this tomorrow. . .

Daniel, The county web site still has no further information about the process to contest the assessments. It would be nice if there were info posted that would outline what sort of data that can be used to bolster the homeowners case. As I told you before, I successfully contested an assessment here in New York, but they were forthcoming with what homeowners needed to provide in order to do so.

I agree with postings I’ve seen on other sites that builders ought to be responsible for more of the infrastructure costs that otherwise end up being borne by existing homeowners.

Perhaps you’d be willing to become a homeowners advocate given the extensive knowledge you have about the Fluvanna market :-) as well as your personal vested interest (as a homeowner and real estate professional).
